Welcome to the world of Monkeys - and socks! I, too, am a loose knitter, but at least can reach 8 stitches to the inch on size 0's. And I agree about semi-solids. I have stash of variegated, but have been gravitating to more heathered versions. Monkey stands up well to variegated yarns and is a good choice.

You're getting 8 spi on Koigu kpppm? That's really good. I knit the same socks, same yarn (Hard to believe, I know, but I blogged it, see below.) They were way too big for me. I blamed the lace-like pattern. I"ll be waiting to see if the smaller gauge gives you the fit you want.

I might just have to knit another pair of Monkeys. I love plain socks, but that's a pattern I could do again. Those needles are gorgeous. I couldn't quite figure out from their website what they're actually made of. Is it something synthetic? Metal? How flexible are they?
